New Blog Post

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus your own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.

Happy Anniversary

Anniversaries are a big deal in our small town! We recently helped one lucky couple celebrate theirs with a giant cookie that had a message written in frosting. We plan to add that to our menu soon, so keep your eyes open!

We can also help with small catering jobs for your next barn party, if that’s how you prefer to celebrate. We can provide food, beverages, and ice that won’t ruin your drink.

Surprise Party!

Lots of people love a good surprise party. Here are some tips on making the next surprise party you throw a big hit:

  • If you need a way to get the honoree to the party, invent a fundraiser that they can’t resist attending.
  • But don’t use that if they prefer to plan fundraisers.
  • In fact, if your honoree is a control freak, you should probably figure out a better lie.
  • Barns can be a great place to hold surprise parties.
  • If your surprise party is for a birthday, rehearse the “SURPRISE” ahead of time. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” can be too wordy.
  • Don’t over-order crabcakes.

We hope you have a great time at your next surprise party, and let us know if there’s anything we can do to help with the planning!

Wine & Roses

We sell all kinds of wine at Rosebud Bakery, and we enjoy pairing them with our menu items.

Try the groundfruit blend with our bagels. We think you’ll like the notes of tomato!

We also have a banana wine that goes well with our mozzarella sticks.

What do you think would go with the cherry ice wine? Enchiladas seem like a natural fit, don’t you think?

Riesling Rioja pairs beautifully with the cinnamon rolls, with its notes of laundry detergent.

Strawberry-peach might go well with a meadow harvest smoothie, depending on what’s in the smoothie that day. Try it and let us know!

We’d love to hear your suggestions!
